Mr. Trotta practices mainly in the commercial, transport, maritime, banking and capital markets law fields dealing with both contentious and non-contentious matters, with particular reference to the negotiation of financial instruments and derivatives.

He has gained significant experience in energy law.

He was a member of the firm’s team that advised the Ministry of the Treasury in the privatisations of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, Medio Credito Centrale and Credito Sardo, that advised in relation to the disposal of Acquedotto Pugliese and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti and that advised in relation to the privatisation of an electricity distribution company owned by the city of Parma.

Education, Teaching and Publications:
Mr. Trotta holds a degree in law cum laude from La Sapienza University in Rome and a research doctorate in Maritime and Transport Law. He attended a postgraduate legal training course in 1991-1992 organised by Tor Vergata University in Rome. He served his legal traineeship with the State Attorney’s Office.

He is an assistant lecturer in Maritime and Transport Law at La Sapienza University in Rome (law and economics faculties) and at the University of Teramo (law faculty). He has held lectures on Maritime and Transport Law in various other universities as well as taught a series of postgraduate courses. He is also the author of publications on maritime, transport and commercial law.

Public Appointments:
Mr. Trotta is the vice president of the Rome branch of the Italian Association of Maritime Law.

From December 2019 he is a member of the Working Group on the taxation of Italian ports of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
